2. Seamen Book, Provided traveling on Duty.
Validity
Travel documents should be valid at least one month beyond period of
intended stay.
Crew
Passport and General Declaration required (see Terms and Definitions). Dead heading Crews need an additional
Letter of Guarantee from the carrier
2. Visa :
Warning:
Non-compliance with the entry regulations will result in deportation
of the passenger to country of embarkation at carrier’s expense and
fines varying between ERN 10,000 and ERN 20,000:

1. Nationals of Eritrea. 2.
Nationals of Eritrea residing abroad and holding the national Identity
Card.
3. Nationals of Uganda.
4. Holders of a re-entry
permit.
5. Nationals of Kenya holding
normal and service passports.
6. UNMEE (United Nations
Mission to Ethiopia and Eritrea) staff (TWOV).
7. Those continuing by same aircraft to a third country within 6 hours, Provided holding confirmed onward tickets and all documents required
for next destination. Leaving the airport transit area is not allowed.
Merchant Seamen must travel on duty
and hold Seamen Book together with passport. Letter of Guarantee of
shipping company should be present on arrival.
1. If arriving by air
in order to board ship, or if arriving by ship in order to board aircraft:
Visa not required for nationals of Eritrea, Kenya or Uganda.
2. If
in direct transit to abroad: visa not required for nationals of: Eritrea,
Kenya or Uganda.
Crew visa not required,
However, if duration of stay is longer than on flight information papers,
transit visa required. Issue by a consulate
or embassy of Eritrea in one of the following countries: Australia (Canberra),
Belgium (Brussels), Canada (Ottawa), China (People’s Rep.) (Beijing),
Djibouti (Djibouti), Egypt (Cairo), Ethiopia (Addis Ababa), France (Paris),
Germany (Cologne, Frankfurt), Italy (Rome), (Kenya (Nairobi), Kuwait
(Kuwait), Qatar (Doha), Russian Fed, (Moscow), Saudi Arabia (Jeddah,
Riyadh), South Africa (Johannesburg), Sweden (Stockholm), Switzerland
(Geneva), United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi), United Kingdom (London),
U.S.A (Washington and Yemen (Sana'a). |

On
arrival
Entry visa for a stay of maximum
of one month (renewable for 2 more months),
provided it has been requested by local sponsor at the Eritrean-Immigration
Authority 48 hours before arrival. One passport photo is required. Boarding
should not take place before confirmation is received.
Additional information :
All visitors
should hold return/onward tickets and documents required for next destination.
Minors: traveling alone and being under
the age of 15 must hold an “Unaccompanied Minor” form stating that a
competent person or organization will meet the minor on arrival.
Exit Permit: required for alien residents
3. Health:
Required except for transit passengers not leaving the
airport. Vaccination against
Yellow fever, if arriving within 6 days
after leaving or transiting 31 countries with infected areas (see General
Health information).
Recommended:
Malaria
prophylaxis. Malaria risk-mainly in the malignant (P falciparum) form-exists
throughout the year in the whole country below 2200m. There is no risk
in Asmara. Tesistance to chloroquine and sulfadoxine pyrimethamine reported.
Recommended prophylaxis: MEF.
